Death Guard Daemon Prince WIP

It's been a while since my last post, but I have been busy with my army. I have a squad of plague marines just about ready to go, and alot of other mini's primed and ready for the brush. In the middle of all this, I got sidetracked a bit with this bad boy.

I have no problem with GW's nurgle prince. I think it looks really awesome, but can't really do much with it. Throw wings on it....meh. I wanted to make my own just for the sake of having something unique. The new forgeworld model, in my opinion, lacks in alot of areas. So I started this conversion up, consisting so far of a older greater demon box (with the wide mouth head), the balrog box, and some bits from the chaos vehicle sprue.

In the end, this model is going to have two weapons. The plague sword is already on, but I really want this guy to have a manreaper, too. I will definitely post the finished work when it's done, and comments/suggestions are always welcomed. Thanks!

  1. Wow - this is looking really good! The use of the Great Unclean One bits is a great move - they really help to give the model that Nurgle feeling.

  3. Very inspired! Is that a drum of plague goo I see attached to the back? Hot damn. Can't wait to see the next steps.

  4. Wow, looks really good. The combination of plastic and metal with greenstuff. Definitely a vision before starting to come up with this.

Looking forward to seeing this guy painted up.

  5. Thanks for the comments!
Cawshis-yeah it's a drum of plague goo. I used the drum from one of the scenery kits, topped with hatches from the chaos vehicle sprue. Now I just need some suitable 'hoses' and straps for it. I think finding those two things is going to be about the hardest part of the conversion.

  6. Couldn't you just greenstuff them? I would think that both would be fairly easy to do.

  7. I have to say, he looks meaner than your average Demon Prince. Great modelling, i look forward to seeing it painted.

  8. Ron: Went a different route than what was orginally planned. Instead of straps I opted to use the green stuff to try to blend the barrel into the body. As for the hoses, I just stopped by a music store and was able to score some bass guitar strings, varying sizes, which works out real well.

  9. I really like how he's turning out. Y'know, I always thought that the "big fat barfy guy" was overdone with Nurgle. Nurgle embodies decay and despair, not just, y'know, disease and gross slippery bits. Your DP is definitely more of a reaper of death, very in keeping with Nurgle's actual meaning.
